In this review, we summarize experimental reports on the role of microtubule-associated factors, such as microtubule, dynein, and dynein adaptor protein, in nuclear translocation of HIF1α. WebFibroblasts harboring activated HIF1 a showed a dramatic reduction in Cav-1 levels and a shift towards aerobic glycolysis, as evidenced by a loss of mitochondrial activity, and an increase in lactate production.
